Boards Not Appearing in the Sprint Scheduler Dropdown
If certain Jira boards are not appearing in the board selection dropdown inside the Sprint Scheduler app, there are two common causes to check.
Why This Happens
The Sprint Scheduler app retrieves boards from Jira based on:
The boards the user has access to
The filters associated with those boards
Additionally, the board dropdown initially loads only a limited number of boards for performance reasons.
Troubleshooting Steps
1. Search for the Board by Typing Its Name
By default, the board dropdown displays only a limited set of boards.
If you do not immediately see the required board:
Open the board dropdown in the spreadsheet view
Start typing the board name
Select the board from the search results
Example:
Type:
Infra Ops Scrum Board
In many cases, the board is available but not shown in the initial dropdown list.
2. Verify the Board Filter Permissions
If the board still does not appear after searching, the board may be using a private Jira filter.
Possible Cause
The board may have been created using a filter that is:
Private
Shared only with limited users/groups
If users do not have access to the underlying filter, the Sprint Scheduler app cannot display that board.
How to Check Board Filter Access
Go to Jira → View All Boards
Open the board that is missing from the Sprint Scheduler app
Navigate to:
Board Settings
Locate the Filter Query or selected filter for the board
Open the filter settings
Verify that the filter is shared with:
Relevant users
User groups
Or the appropriate project/team
Users who need access to the Sprint Scheduler app must also have access to the board’s underlying filter.
Recommended Fix
Ensure that:
The board filter is properly shared
Users can access the filter directly in Jira
Users search for the board name in the dropdown instead of relying only on the initial list
Once the filter permissions are updated, refresh the Sprint Scheduler app and search for the board again
